H. Allen Ryan School of Business

Thomas College has a rich history in the business world, dating back 125 years and sustained through our thriving alumni network. The H. Allen Ryan School of Business encompasses various disciplines that provide essential business knowledge to empower our students in their careers. This foundational business knowledge is universally valuable and is provided to students through both our undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Thomas emphasizes hands-on learning, facilitated by our experienced faculty, and offers invaluable networking and internship opportunities through our alumni network.

Peter and Paula Lunder School of Education

The Lunder School of Education (LSOE) offers prospective teachers the chance to discover and develop their full potential as future educators. Upon program completion students obtain over 920 hours of practical classroom experience and can earn at least one professional teaching certification, often dual-certifications. Plus, all programs can be finished in just three years, allowing new educators to jump-start their careers. The teacher preparation program emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-driven coursework taught by experienced faculty and guest speakers, including teachers, Maine Teachers of the Year, and local administrators.

School of Arts & Sciences

The School of Arts and Sciences encompasses the academic areas of humanities, sciences, mathematics, criminal justice, social sciences, and computer science, serving both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The School offers diverse courses from a comprehensive range of majors, including Criminal Justice, Psychology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Political Science, Mathematics, English, Environmental Science and Policy, and Interdisciplinary Studies. Additionally, an associate degree in Arts and Sciences is available. Students can further enrich their academic journey through internships and participation in study abroad programs.

Immersive Education

In partnership with API and International Studies Abroad, Thomas College offers students in good standing who have completed 60 credit hours the chance to study abroad. We offer short-term, semester, and year-long programs in most academic areas of study, and we’ll work with you to find a program that satisfies your curiosity, enhances your work toward your major, and provides you with the outlook and experience future employers value. We also offer internships abroad through the Washington Center in Washington, D.C., an acclaimed program with over 50,000 alumni in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

Guaranteed Job Placement

In our Guaranteed Job Program™, you’ll work closely with our faculty, staff, and industry partners throughout your college journey on a proven path to job search success. If, despite your dedicated efforts, you don’t secure employment of any kind within six months of graduation, rest assured—we’ve got you covered. You can choose one of two options: 

  1. Reimbursement of the amortized monthly loan payment amount of all federally subsidized loans for a period of up to 12 months or until you have secured and/or been offered employment of any kind (whichever occurs first),
  2. While unemployed, you can elect to enroll, tuition free, in up to six (6) online/evening graduate courses toward your master’s degree at Thomas College.

The Student Success Center (SSC) is a free, comprehensive learning assistance center that supports the learning and success of each Thomas College student from matriculation to graduation. Receive tutoring from your carefully selected and trained peers, jump-start your first-year transition with our Early Start program, receive Academic Coaching one-on-one from a staff member, and more.

At Thomas College, our student-athletes are not just dedicated members of their community; they also find a second family within our close-knit athletics community, supported by our passionate fan base both on and off the field. We proudly offer 19 varsity sports under NCAA Division III, making us one of the schools that recognize esports as a varsity program. Waterville, Maine, is a safe and welcoming community of 15,600 residents situated along the scenic Kennebec River, which flows directly past Thomas College. The city is an integral part of the Kennebec-Chaudière Corridor, celebrated for its vibrant arts and culture scene. In the greater Waterville area, you’ll discover an array of outdoor recreational opportunities, including the Pine Ridge Golf Course and an extensive network of hiking and biking trails. Thomas College students enthusiastically embrace Maine’s natural beauty, participating in both organized and spontaneous trips. These outings offer chances for hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, skiing (both downhill and cross-country), sailing, whale-watching, hunting, bird-watching, rock climbing, and various other outdoor activities.

Residential Life

Each campus residence is equipped with lounges, study areas, computer labs, laundry facilities, vending machines, and wireless internet. Explore our central hub for residential life, the Spann Student Commons. This welcoming space serves as a gathering place for students and the Thomas community, featuring the campus store, the Dog Pound, an inviting atrium lounge, game tables, meeting rooms, and a venue for movie screenings and events. Don’t forget to visit Jeanie’s Cafe near the Library, where you can enjoy your favorite Starbucks coffee.

Student Body

Each student is assigned an account giving single-sign-on access to Office 365, Google Apps, Adobe Creative Cloud, Apple iCloud, e-mail, Intranet, and Canvas. A web-based student information system (MyThomas) provides access to class schedules, student grades, student bills, and other information.

Services team is dedicated to your support and will conduct a computer configuration workshop during your initial days on campus. You can easily reach out to them for assistance via phone, or visit them in person at the Library.
